The plan comes as a swift response to last week’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that weakened key protections of the Voting Rights Act, and the Tennessee General Assembly is expected to fast-track the measure. The redistricting would dilute Black voting power, likely turning a reliably Democratic seat into multiple Republican-leaning districts and altering Tennessee’s congressional delegation.
