Nintendo shadow-drops Star Fox Direct, unveils Star Fox 64 remake
Nintendo unexpectedly aired a 15-minute Star Fox Direct hosted by Shigeru Miyamoto and announced a full remake of Star Fox 64 titled Star Fox. The presentation showed modernized graphics and redesigned versions of Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad and a newly depicted Fox's father while largely preserving the original game’s level structure and missions. Nintendo gave no release date during the Direct. This matters because bringing Star Fox 64 to current hardware with updated visuals could reset the franchise's direction and introduce Arwing combat to a new generation of players.
star fox looks great Laser Lords (1992) developed by Spinnaker Software for the Phillips CD-i
oh my GOD is the lizard wearing a headband with front-facing mirrors positioned beside his side-facing eyes so that he can see forward???? furry designers take note!!!!
i posted this years ago on the Other Website and now it's time for everyone to rediscover the joys of claymation gore and cryptic lizard men
god i'll never forget this adorable little thing, more games should look like this
Laser Lords my beloved The little mirrors Zendo wears so he can look forward with his lizardy eyes is still my favorite detail
Wow. Never thought I'd see the 'penis' monster from 1985's "The Strangeness" cameo in a CD-Rom game from the 90's.
I think I'm more bothered by Another 64 than I am at the Star Fox designs. It's just a lot to get used to after so long, like Donkey Kong but more severe. The part of my brain that likes on-model Lucario is fighting violently with the part that likes bishie Star Fox, and somehow they're both losing
I hope I'm not being too negative. Like, these designs in a game that's as narratively different as Assault or Adventures? Cool! But these designs in a game that's just kinda 64 again discomforts people who wanted something new AND people comfortable with 64's style. The dialogue doesn't help;
At least if it was a NEW game they could've leaned into the idea that this is meant to be some big, new cinematic step for the series- maybe with some innovative gameplay or something too. There's so many issues with how this looks, and the fact it's just 64 means there's nothing left of value lol
praying deeply that it's going the FF7 remake route and taking the story in a diff direction... seeing the sacrifice of James without confirming his death is an odd inclusion if they dont want to draw much more attention to the possibility he might be alive and how that might change the story
