David Attenborough turns 100, Royal Albert Hall centenary tributes held
Sir David Attenborough celebrated his 100th birthday at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where the BBC hosted a centenary event. Cinemas have been screening his landmark nature films and the BBC aired tributes that included a segment spotlighting familiar 'famous' animals. His century-long career, from black and white television through high definition, 4K and 3D, helped shape global conservation awareness and inspired initiatives such as nature recovery zones.

This is wonderful & he looks fantastic!! ❤️
100 looks fantastic on him - what a lovely man and gift he is to the world. 💚
Watched it and cried. I don’t know why. Other than the fact that he has been ringing the warning bell all my life, and I have children to provide a world for!
Random David Attenborough fact: he's the reason tennis balls are yellow.
Huh? Googling frantically... Oh. sports.yahoo.com/articles/why...
Yes, people forget he was once Controllor of BBC2 and thought the yellow would stand out more against the grass. Interestingly, Wimbledon held out until the 1980s, before finally accepting he was right.
He turned snooker from a smoky bar sport into a global television phenomenon.
That's weird. I've always thought tennis balls were a shade of green. I guess they're much more yellow than green but I've never thought of them that way.
Catching up on the David Attenborough 100th birthday concert and holy wow how did I not know he commissioned Monty Python?!?!?
Because NO ONE expects the Attenborough Commission!!! ...gets coat.
He's also responsible for the colour of tennis balls - they used to use white ones at Wimbledon, but they weren't as visible when colour TV came in, and David Attenborough was commissioner of BBC 2 at the time and said they should use bright yellow ones for better contrast.
He saw python in the name and got confused
He ran BBC2 for four years, and then BBC1 for another four.
If there ever was some one who should get the full St Paul's cathedral treatment when they pass it is David Attenborough.
