Doomsday Clock, experts warn risks from war, AI and climate

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' Science and Security Board set the Doomsday Clock at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest in the clock's 75-year history. The board said escalating conflicts in the Middle East, including clashes between Israel and Iran, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine have increased the risk of nuclear use. It also identified rapidly advancing artificial intelligence and accelerating climate breakdown as compounding threats that weaken global safeguards. The group warned these converging dangers raise the chance of catastrophic outcomes and called for immediate policy action on nuclear risk reduction, AI governance and climate mitigation.

After yesterday's results, my doomsday clock for the UK Parliamentary system has definitely moved closer to midnight... How close is still being assessed. If the UK ever gets a Reform led government, it's going to be hell... If people think politicians are self-serving now... Fcuk me...
