sportsMay 9, 202617516

Addison Barger returned from the injured list and, in the second inning, threw out Jorge Soler at home with a 101.2 mph outfield assist. The throw cut down Soler trying to score on a Vaughn Grissom fly ball and ended the top of the second inning. Statcast measured the throw at 101.2 mph, marking the fastest tracked outfield assist in MLB this season and the quickest Blue Jays assist tracked since Statcast began in 2015. Barger’s arm gives Toronto an immediate defensive boost after activation, turning a potential run into momentum for the Blue Jays.
