BBC Laura Kuenssberg panel questions Richard Tice over Farage gift
On BBC's Laura Kuenssberg program, Laura Kuenssberg pressed Reform UK leader Richard Tice about Nigel Farage's £5 million gift and questions over whether Farage received state-funded security. Tice declined to condemn a councillor who said Nigerians should be "melted down to fill potholes." The exchange intensified scrutiny of Reform UK's stance on race and fundraising and created reputational and political risks for the party ahead of upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, I'm still reeling from the fact that Richard Tice can't find it in him to condemn someone for saying that Nigerians should be melted down to fill potholes.
And now I’m reeling from the BBC news at 10 report on this hideousness… “The post is said to have been insulting to Nigerians” says Clive Myrie. Really, BBC? Why would you breeze over such disturbing racism like this?
And yet party leader is welcomed to antisemitism rally by head of Jewish group whilst the Jewish leader of the greens is persona non grata. The sheer hypocrisy surrounding the anti-racism / anti-semitism debate is disgusting
It doesn’t seem like the highest of bars, does it?
Why would he? He has no morals so that doesn't come into it. Will his voter base respond favourably or unfavourably to him criticising racism? These aren't serious politicians. These aren't public servants. People like Tice are out for whatever they can get, and they're shameless about it.
Idiot racist unable to condemn other idiot racist from party led by proven horrible old racist.
Because Reform is a racist Far Right party and needs to be treated as such. The media need to be far more robust in pushing back against these fascists.
Indeed. Meanwhile has anyone asked him about the £100k tax his company owes? #MinorAccountingErrorMyA@!&e
The cruelty and hatred is the point. They know it is what their base want to hear, just a carbon copy of what goes on in the US.
And where was Laura’s “… well, we haven’t heard you condemn it…” to summarise?
We better get used to it. Bannon playbook, never apologise and double down if necessary.
Indeed. For Reform supporters….. a message resonates……..
How must Nigerians studying and working in Sunderland feel when hearing such vile abuse? This is how it starts by dehumanising sections of society. Now this person gets to make decisions which affects thousands of people. Wrong from every angle.
Perhaps JCB are still exploring the feasibility
Kemi gave up her Nigerian passport so she’s got nothing to say on this subject…
The problem is not Richard Tice It's voters who seek bad advice Who base their views on Twitter News And need their failure to excuse By blaming those whose skin's not white For their lifelong hopeless plight They're happy now to find a norm In Tice and Farage and Reform
The fella's suspended, now. Why has Craftywank suspended him over a media smear?
Apparently the people who voted for them have endorsed them and don’t care. But it’s all such a terrible shame that Nigel needs £5mio security.
Has anyone raised the possibility of melting down Richard Tice to fill a pothole in Nigeria?
Sorry … he what now??! That’s appalling. I’m speechless …
I had to read that 3 times before I worked out it wasn't talking about melting down Nigel Farage
They know their main attraction to their fans is racism so they are not even paying lip service to hiding it anymore.
I initially read that as Nigelians* and was surprised Then I reread, and wasn't *have I invented a new word?
Why did you expect that he would? He has no redeeming qualities.
I'm shocked you are shocked! The man has no moral standing....
Now ask the Board of Deputies.
I’ll bet it’s because he wants to know first whether doing anything about him will impact on their power in the council to which he was elected… Reform is all about transactional politics, like their idol #NigelisNotAPolicy
Nadine Dorries – who helped crash the economy, party through lockdown, and run the NHS into the ground – now says "people trust Farage to deliver." The clowns are running the circus. 🎭 #bbclaurak
Why do the BBC they keep dragging out these has-beens, actually has-beens is generous, 'never-weres' is more appropriate. Singularly useless in power and yet deemed to have some wisdom on current events. FFS.
You could walk through Nadine's deepest thoughts and not get your feet wet. Start interviewing actual economists and political scientists rather than these 'Look at me!' balloons.
Any port in a storm for her, she’s a real grifter so suits Refrom to a tee.
Anyone who trusts Farage needs some psychological intervention.
I’d be seriously doubtful of Nadine even running a bath..
What exactly has Farage delivered?
If all the ignorant racists who voted for Farage think they will still have an NHS in ten years.. tell them they’re dreaming..here in Australia we almost let the right wing party destroy our wonderful health system..
She sounds just like the people in Trump’s administration! 😳
Don’t let this happen - he’s a Trump and trust me we feel helpless over here - it’s terrifying to live here right now Heed our warning
Government in waiting, now that really is a joke.
Deliver what exactly? A country where the most vulnerable are targeted and abandoned, where no-one will access healthcare unless they're rich, where people will be frightened to leave their homes for fear of the abuse they'll be subject to? I wouldn't trust Farage to sell me a packet of fags.
Tell the truth Righty will deliver private hospitals Private insurance Ambulances that cost thousands to get to the hospital Reduced home care for seniors More money to have a baby if your not insured Deductibles before a ant professional will even see you Righty supporters will own them
I have know idea WTAF the BBC were thinking by putting her on -as Culture Secretary she threatened the BBC by freezing the licence fee, and wanted to privatise C4 because of political opposition to their output; was denied a peerage; (with there's more)
Was she sober 🤣😱? Labour have delivered much of their manifesto already and progressing much more. Yet people complain because the press misleads people.
She's the woman keeping the Gin industry going #NadineDorries #BBCLaurak
They're apparently not watching the $hit $how in the good ole USofA
So why didn't she joing with farage right from the start? Could it be self-interest perhaps?
Reform UK's Richard Tice refused to condemn Glenn Gibbins who is now a Reform UK councillor Who said that Nigerians should be melted down to fill in pot holes
The oiliest of people is Dubai Dick Tice. You can almost see the oil dripping down his entitled face.
Why would he? Reforms base literally salivate at this shit. Gibbons will probably go far in his party.
He should have been thrown out, no ifs no buts. A disgusting racist post. Another thing, has the crook Farage paid tax on the £5M personal gift?
Why won't Labour, The Lib Dems and The Green Party unite in Parliament, Press and Social Media to call out the racist behaviour shown by representatives of Reform. Surely they acknowledge their responsibilities to the electorate. If not they are complicit for failing to take action.
Tice is a tw@t and so is Kuentsberg!
Racist Reform are the worst of us. Don't care how many councillors they got they're still racist.
@bbcrosatkins.bsky.social @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social Why do reform get such an easy ride from the corporation?
He’s fucking shit. Instant subject-switching and whataboutery
I wish I was surprised by that dickhead's response.
A lead member of a racist company is unlikely to condemn racism. As much as Reform are an issue, this is catnip to their fans. So many voters being racist, xenophobic and/or fascist is a bigger concern for me.
Seems he finds it funny.......
Horrible man. Who does he think he is?
Richard Tice is going to fall apart like a cheap suit and I’m all in for it!
‘Stop scrutinising us, we’re celebrating’ 🙄
Inviting on Nadine Dorries, who did not make a single spoken contribution in the House of Commons for over 13 months before her resignation in August 2023, is an insult to viewers. If she didn't take her job seriously, why should she be given a platform to opine about those who do? #bbclaurak
Does the BBC think that anyone gives a rats arse what Dorries thinks or says? Seriously??
An anti Labour panel again this week there’s a surprise !😳
You could also say that anyone still watching Kuenssberg is asking to have their intelligence insulted...
Exactly. Bet she also mentioned that hideous sack of lying custard a few times; that's an insult, too. NO ONE wants to even be reminded of them.
Dumb as a pile of bricks, likes to frequent the many cheap bars in Parliament, and a love-struck Johnson groupie.
Harsh. As the staunchest defender of a PM who was clearly due for the nacker's yard, she is the perfect guest.
She's a total fucking idiot. Inviting her to a cake sale is an insult to scones.
Because Laura K is a sycophantic Tory rat why is she still at the BBC and not GBNews
Just wait until the GE. She will be running for Reform just to confirm the 2019-24 Tory/Reform coalition.
Hideous racist communication from Sunderland councillor dismissed as 'people saying daft things' by Richard Tice Shameful and telling #BBCLauraK
Can only imagine the media uproar if it had been a labour councillor saying we should melt down all Jews to fill in potholes Reform's racism is now factored in #bbclaurak
An as ever LK wouldn’t challenge and even do her homework before the interview, BBC has lost all credibility 🤬
But Reform get invited to an antisemitism vigil. Unfortunately right wing Jewish groups in the UK are more worried about the Greens' policies than they are racism/antisemitism.
And did she push back? I think we all know the answer to that.
Why is it when labour mp's break the rules or say something dodgy deform and their acclomplises in the news campaign for that person to resign but that gimp farage can take bribs dodge tax and fuck knows what else and these fuckers in Sunderland should never be near politics
So many of these appalling examples. Why did Reform endorse Howard Raymond Dini who stood in Ickenham and South Harefield, and then fail to take action in response to his revolting social media comments? www.mylondon.news/news/west-lo... #ReformUK #RacistReform #Hillingdon #Ickenham #Harefield
So what i hearing are the words "Oh I have said worse" Which is my default translation for anyone downplaying these aweful statements
If Farage can be given a £5million bung that was only discovered by the Guardian, how much more has Farage & other Reform MP’s been given by untraceable crypto transfers? #BBCLauraK
This is a major constitutional issue and need investigation by not just the Met but by our secret services, this has the hallmarks of foreign interference in our political system by both state and other private actors.
When you read the parliamentary rules on this it becomes obvious why many wouldn't declare large sums. The level of accountability is pathetic.
“The State wouldn’t provide funding for the security of Nigel” Tice says to #bbclaurak . Why would the state provide security if Farage , as he has said himself, was a private citizen not even considering running to be an MP when the £5m was given?
That’s a very good question. Perhaps the presenter of the show might know someone curious enough to ask?
You'll be shocked to know they don't provide me with any security either.
That was more party political broadcast than an interview. Totally Trumpian. Can’t wait for them to be in No 10!
So Richard "stupid" Tice doesn't seem to realise what he just said on #BBClaurak Basically, that Farage wasn't thinking of going back into politics... until he received the £5million. Funny that eh?
Also, maybe Farage wasn't standing as an MP at the time, but he was literally the honorary president (and owner!) of Reform and very active on social media. That is hardly "not being involved in politics". It's utter bullshit and Reform are simply trying to fight their way out of a tricky corner.
So either a bribe or a direct payment for a service which I think under the circs is also a bribe.
And Farage never left politics, his gurning face was all over the telly every bloody day.
Oh gosh, now we are back with the music. Really striking how responsive the crowd was to Reform’s Richard Tice. The tone of his address was anger and the crowd really responded. Compare with the fury directed at Pat McFadden /7
Adrian Cohen from the Board of Jewish Deputies say antisemitism is a threat from “far-left or far-right” and that “Whatever you party, whatever your background, we welcome you and we thank you for you”. So why did Reform address the rally but not the Greens? /8
Here’s your ‘goy boy’ Tice! Reckon he would ‘support’ us Jews? Nah ~ we’d be herded into their camps along with immigrants, black people , muslims etc.
“Why won’t you let Nigel be Prime Minister now??” #bbclaurak
My hid both sky and bbc packed full of anti Labour govt people today on their panels ! It’s disgusting and time our regulators sorted this out or got the sack
and it's time to stop talking about the media, the problem is made up of journalists who evidently have to please someone or who do it for money and have a name and surname. The most corrupt profession ever.
What kind of a stupid question is that?
I used to be so proud of the bbc but can’t watch it anymore!
Reform deputy leader Richard Tice refuses to condemn Sunderland councillor over racist posts. In now-deleted Facebook posts, Glenn Gibbins, a Reform councillor since Friday, ranted: “Carnt [stet] believe amount of nigerians in town... should melt them all down and fill in the pot holes!!”
It’s almost as if the Reform UK deputy leader thinks there’s a hierarchy of racism. Watch Richard Tice, MP for Boston and Skegness since 4 July 2024, refuse to condemn Reform councillor Glenn Gibbins’ anti-Nigerian racism here. #BBCLauraK h/t @eddieburfi.bsky.social
If he condemns outright racism he loses voters. He knows this.
Any of leadership condemned / disavowed this yet? Or does antisemitism only matter if it’s a green candidate? bsky.app/profile/adam...
