Hantavirus update as of May 11: The risk to the general public remains very low. Reminder, hantavirus is not a new virus. Passengers aboard the MV Hondius have been/are being repatriated. They are being taken to a facility in Nebraska that has the capacity to isolate any symptomatic passengers.

Australia’s Health Minister Mark Butler will quarantine 5 Australians and 1 New Zealander evacuated from a Hantavirus ship outbreak. Of the Australians, 3 are from NSW and 2 from Queensland. Quarantine will last 3 weeks, shorter than Hantavirus’ potential 42-day incubation period.

Trump CDC says cruise-ship passengers can leave quarantine/isolation and finish the hantavirus incubation period at home voluntarily.

if you go on a cruise then when you come back they should quarantine you somewhere away from the rest of society. this actually has nothing to do with the hantavirus thing i think it would just improve society a great deal

So the US passengers of the hantavirus cruise ship will be "closely monitored" instead of quarantined? I realise the risk of a pandemic is very, very small, but all European passengers have been put under quarantine... Nobody here wants to be responsible for that kind of shit show
