I welcome the NHS Modernisation Bill announced in the King’s Speech. Here in Bolton South and Walkden, waiting lists have already fallen by over 7,000 with 25,000 extra appointments delivered. This Bill will help secure that progress and go further for patients.

Is it the right day to note that NHS ambulance response times and waiting lists are the best they've been since the the pandemic? - Category 2 ambulance response times down to a mean of 24 mins 27 seconds, best since lockdown. - 65.3% within-18-week measure (on-target if you allow rounding).

NHS waiting lists may have taken, but Caitlin still waited 7 months for a physio appointment for her knee. That's still not good enough in my opinion.

On 1, there may be more resources going in to NHS but the focus on waiting lists has led to purges with tricks like this (and see quoted thread) so denying many people, sicker more marginalised people in general, the care they need. Not a positive overall for me. bsky.app/profile/hope...

All this "yeah but NHS waiting lists are down", overlooking that people have often just been removed, and A&E continues to get worse.

Wee Streeting claiming to have delivered the biggest reduction in NHS waiting lists, in a single month in 17 years, is just absolute tosh! When you pay GPs not to refer, and mandate every list be reviewed and culled, it’s not surprising that 100,000 patients have miraculously “disappeared”.

Waiting lists fallen/ambulances arrival times faster/ abolished NHS England/introduced more scans for various cancers/work on training up care workers to carry out basic nursing procedures in care homes(ongoing)/trialing NHS on line(direct contact with clinicians at home rather than in hospital)

… higher borrowing costs were inevitable (see point 1)… and so on. The previous govt fucked things up so badly that the first 3-5 years of any govt trying to fix it would be an exercise in deceleration first. Numbers like waiting lists, immigration (ironically) etc that show the immediate effects…
