Kevin O'Leary Utah data center controversy
Billionaire Kevin O'Leary has proposed a 40,000-acre AI data center in rural Utah and was directly questioned about the plan by Tucker Carlson during a televised interview. Nearby residents say the project's scale and recent state approvals have narrowed formal opportunities to object, raising specific concerns about water use, invasive plants, and procedural barriers to petitions. NowThis Impact and The Majority Report ran segments amplifying those local complaints and documenting how approvals moved forward. The dispute matters because a single, 40,000-acre tech megaproject could reshape water, land use, and local authority across rural Utah and set a precedent for how fast large AI infrastructure can be approved.
Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz says he was the person who introduced Kevin O’Leary to the people in Utah pushing the data center.
Friendly reminder that Jason Chaffetz leaked the location of a classified CIA annex in Libya live on CSPAN which forced the Obama admin to basically end all operations there. Also friendly reminder, HE is the one who leaked the "Comey letter" to the New York Times from his position in the House.
At this rate, Utah may end up with all of the data centers.
The thing that I like about Jason is how he is the exception that disproves the rule. One ought not judge a book by its cover. But damned if he doesn’t look like the exact sort of creepy, foul-intent individual that he is. He’s kind of special that way. Props.
So it’s garbage people all the way down!
