At the Eurovision final, Finland's hard-rock band Lordi surprised the audience by performing a death-metal snippet of the United Kingdom's 1976 winning song "Save Your Kisses for Me". Lordi inserted a brief heavy-metal rendition of Brotherhood of Man's melody mid-set, layering distorted guitars and growled vocals over the pop chorus. The moment juxtaposed Lordi's monster costumes and stage theatrics with a cheeky homage to Eurovision history. The stunt mattered because it underscored Eurovision's genre-mixing spirit and put a decades-old UK winner back into the spotlight during the final.
