Betty Boop is returning to the big screen with Quinta Brunson developing and set to star in a Fleischer Studios feature that traces the cartoon's origin through the perspective of creator Max Fleischer. Following the announcement, creators are producing illustrations, short comics, animatics, period cosplay, and edits that reimagine Betty in jazz-age performance settings. Much of the work centers on Betty Boop herself, reenacted Fleischer studio sequences, and historical references to Esther "Baby Esther" Jones as an origin figure. Styles range from chibi comics to fully rendered key art and live-action costume recreations.

This is at least the fourth attempt at making an official Betty Boop film (after an 80s live-action film, a 90s animated film, and a 2010s live-action/CG hybrid). Hopefully this is the one that comes to fruition. I expect a 2030 release to commemorate Betty’s 100th anniversary.
