Survivor announces an 'Open Era' after Season 50 finale

During the Season 50 finale host Jeff Probst announced an "Open Era" that will define upcoming Survivor seasons. Production said the Open Era will formally reintroduce and recombine past twists and mechanics, putting tribe swaps, hidden immunity idols, and returning-player twists back into play under a single label. Producers framed the change as a reset to let the show experiment more freely with format and surprise moves, making strategy and unpredictability central to future seasons.
