Bird Of The Day, theme 'Eck'

natureMay 25, 202618833

Today's Bird Of The Day is the weekly photo and art prompt tagged ECK, pairing a main BirdOnAWire theme with an alternate 'T' challenge for any bird with a T in its name. Entries lean heavily on photography with some traditional and watercolor pieces, plus a few macro flower close-ups tied to PinkMon and MacroMonday. Standouts include an American oystercatcher photographed on Gulf of Mexico shores, a Great Grey owl perched on a wire in northern Minnesota, a juvenile starling confronting an adult grackle, a blue-throated barbet on a wire in India, and a watercolor macaw created from a reference shot in Mexico. Look for #ECK to browse today's gallery or to join the prompt.

Its head is mostly black (including its beak), but there are white “eyebrows that come up from the nape of its neck. Over and around its eyes is an area of pure pink.
