This Memorial Day, I joined Gold Star families at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery to honor our fallen heroes. Today and every day, Americans owe a debt of gratitude to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation.

Memorial Day is a day of reflection and remembrance for those who never returned home. To our fallen servicemembers, Gold Star families, and veterans from the #MA7: our hearts are with you and your sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Today and every day, we honor our servicemembers who gave the ultimate sacrifice to defend our democracy and stand with the Gold Star families who supported them. Let us remember not only their service, but the lives they lived and the impact they made.

This Memorial Day, we remember America’s brave service members who sacrificed their lives to keep us safe. Our hearts are with Gold Star families across America—today and everyday.

As a US Veteran, Memorial Day is usually a time of somber reflection for me. This year I feel only sickness & anger. Hundreds of thousands of Gold Stars fought slavery and Fascism or to make the US strong & safe. The latest 15 died for FOMO in a war that made us less safe & strong.

Memorial Day Remember the reason for today & who laid down everything for us, our freedom, liberty, & democracy. Don't you dare forget a single one who did. To all who served, sacrificed, gave everything, to the gold star families low bow hand on heart thank you. I stand in their shoes. I fight. 1

My mom's first husband was a fighter pilot in WWII who died in a plane crash at the end of the war. She honored him every Memorial Day by telling his story, keeping his memory alive. My heart goes out to all our Gold Star families today.

Today is not just about beers and BBQ. It is about presence. It is about memory. All gave some, some gave all. This Memorial Day we honor the service members who laid down their lives in defense of the United States. #MemorialDay #GoldStarFamilies #NeverForget

Not giving up, will continue to resist. Have children and grandchildren. Some of our family struggled and suffered to get here on boats, and some were the ones already here and suffered atrocities. Gold Star family x3. I’ll be damned if I’m giving up on this big, beautiful mess of a country.

Today, on Memorial Day, we remember America’s fallen heroes and honor those Gold Star families who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms. It was a privilege to join in honoring our servicemembers today in Cottage Grove with the Mississippi River Valley Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network.

Your holiday reminder that Memorial Day is not “happy.” It’s a somber day of reflection — especially for Gold Star Families and veterans that have stood too close to war. It’s to honor our fallen brothers and sisters — and reflect how we can do better so their sacrifice wasn’t in vain.
