Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Definitive Edition, is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 with a worldwide release on September 24, 2026. The Definitive Edition adds new party-focused story chapters, expanded voice options, an orchestral score, and toggleable graphics and performance modes including a 3D-to-2D visual switch. Most pieces center on the newly spotlighted party arcs and character moments, especially Erik, Veronica, and the Luminary, and span illustrations, short comics, animatics, comparison edits, and cosplay.

really wish they'd do more modernizations for classic DQ games. 8 is overdue for a remaster (the 3ds version stripped the stellar voice acting.) and IX didn't really get a chance to shine its brightest since it was a DS game but I'd love a chance to replay that with nicer visuals.
