David Costello presents himself as a viable alternative in Maine primary

Seriously, Maine, you have ranked choice! You do not have to vote for Sinema in a Henley! I promise! You can even No Award Platner, like we do for the Hugos, just don’t assign him a number at all. You have Andrea LaFlamme and David Costello right there, for your one and two, as you please.

I’m not a Mainer, but I am distressed by the idea of Graham Platner serving in the US Senate. Maine has ranked choice voting; Platner is not inevitable, and IMO David Costello deserves a closer look as Democrats in Maine get closer to their primary.

Regarding the 'Platner Scandal', it should be noted the Maine Senate primary has NOT HAPPENED yet and they can choose someone much better like David Costello.

you could have and should have mentioned the Dem nominee for Senate in 2024 by the name of David Costello. Yes, he is boring but in every other respect worthy, a lifetime of civil service at some of the highest levels of the executive branch. as to Platner, I don't think he is evil just not worthy

Costello is a known quantity—he ran for Senate in 2024 as well and received only 10% of the vote. Andrea LaFlamme had some recognition from her previous activism but didnt even get enough signatures to make the ballot. Exactly what did people WANT to happen here?
