Cole Caufield won the 2025-26 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player judged to best combine sportsmanship and a high standard of playing ability. The Professional Hockey Writers Association selected him and the Montreal Canadiens surprised Caufield with the trophy in the locker room before a playoff game while teammate Nick Suzuki received the Selke Trophy. The honor spotlights Caufield's stellar 2025-26 season and recognizes his combination of elite play and disciplined, gentlemanly conduct.

After passing up strong Canadiens candidates for the Jack Adams, Jim Gregory and Norris trophies, the voters award Suzuki the Selke and Caufield the Lady Byng. But Hutson should have been no worse than third in the Norris voting, St. Louis second in the Jack Adams and Kent Hughes a lock as best GM.
