Zia Yusuf criticised after appearance on Laura Kuenssberg

journalismJun 7, 2026763,621

Reform UK spokesperson Zia Yusuf was criticized after an interview with BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg in which he misnamed the victim Henry Nowak as "Henry Digwa" while defending the party. When questioned why the party contacted Nowak's family two days after promoting the case, Yusuf said he would not comment on "confidential and private" conversations Nigel Farage had and declined several direct questions. The evasive answers and the on-air misname raise fresh questions about Reform UK's handling of sensitive allegations and could hurt the party's credibility with voters.

Huge thanks once again to Laura Kuenssberg for not being so impolite as to ask Zia Yusuf about me hiding a £5 million gift, being paid to throw an election or my dodgy house purchases.

#bbclaurak Just to be clear Nigel Farage told people to have 'pure, cold rage'. That was an instruction rather than an understanding of what people felt. Understanding people's anger and looking at how we change things is what we want from politicians. Nigel Farage will never be fit to be PM.

I don't understand why failed human Jacob Rees Mogg hasn't joined Reform Ltd. He fully supports their warped ideology. He was totally wrong on Brexit - why is he still being platformed?

theultimatefarce.bsky.social9

I'll give him this; I do feel pure cold rage... towards a grifting scumbag who ignores a grieving family's public request not to racialism this abhorrent murder, and tries to gain political capital by inciting (deniably ofc but it doesn't take a genius to work it out) race riots. 😡😡😡

ralphfarrugia.bsky.social7

That cunt will never be trusted to babysit let alone be prime minister. He’s had his Ratner moment

sapiens365.bsky.social6

He was inciting a particular , focussed rage, the rage of the White Supremacists. He was calling them to war. It has nothing to do with how the country feels.

Foreversideways6

Farage and PM, two words that should never be used in the same sentence.

Someoneelse-fella🇺🇦🇪🇺🇳🇱5

The problem with our democracies is that the likes of Farage and their parties undermine democracy, act against the interest of the country with their devisive talk are allowed in politics. If the majority wants them gone that is democracy as well. A minority of biggots is not more important

President Murdoch wants a PM he can wrap well and truly around his grubby little finger.

andycordy.bsky.social4

Incitement to violent action is what that it.

carlosamammal.bsky.social3

I'm sure Nigel would be OK if it turned out people had ' pure, cold rage' towards him and his fascist shit fuckers! Surely he'd support that? Or, is it only Nazis allowed to do that? Burn these fuckers like it's 1944!

robertjeff57-58.bsky.social2

He chose his words well To get a reaction from the far right of reform Who use violence to make their point

Vambo Marble Eye2

It was clear incitement and he should be being investigated under the Public Order Act 1986.

Politicians who exploit tragedy to create division and hate should be ashamed. What Farage did this week was despicable. #BBCLauraK

Freddy Hicarus15

And journalists who fail to call it out should be ashamed.

Marlowe_UK14

As are journalists at the BBC and SKY who gleefully repeat the Two Tier Policing lie as if it had any merit whatsoever.

Catio Miles10

Laura K had the Farage representative for 10 minutes on her show and not a single time has asked him about the far right riots that followed Farage statement.

Marty1981 (uk)10

Something needs to be done of the interviewers. Trevor Philips either deliberately spread misinformation or it was sheer ignorance. I suspect the former. The government has to get a grip of the state of the media. Online and on tv

Marvin O'Gravel Balloon Face8

Keep asking about his £5 million bribe, and the newly reported $1 million bribe that both Farage and Johnson received. Kick corruption out of Parliament.

Dorothy Lepkowska6

Oh, please! You might as well ask them to apologise. "Ashamed"?. Find a more damning word that properly sums them up. Or better still, use any mechanisms available to parliamentarians to call this out and punish it.

Big Cheese5

Politicians, especially right wing politicians, have no shame these days. They are beyond shame. Shame, as a concept does not even exist for them.

mejasonandsi.bsky.social5

They should be jailed because that is what would happen to the rest of us. Since when did politicians place themselves above the law?

Gytha Ogg4

Can we change ‘ashamed’ to ‘arrested and tried for incitement’?

victoria1921.bsky.social3

For me, a united parliament against Farage's sickening response was an overdue, welcome sight. Good to see and hear. The truly disgusting, if inevitable performance from Farage (who deliberately disrespected the wishes of a grieving family) was clearly offensive to all MPs - other than Farage's.

George Hotchkiss3

I agree and the MSM go along with it and promote it.

notrob 🇺🇦3

Farage, ashamed? Good one. He should be removed from Parliament and banned for life from public office This behaviour must have consequences.

Sir Garfield De Umfreville, Baronet Bywell2

If he isn’t repeatedly pulled up for this it will only embolden him to go further and further.

Sir Michael Take CBE
@sirmichaeltake.bsky.social

Please listen to Zia Yusuf here. Those caring eyes. That sympathy. That empathy.❤️‍🩹 He & Reform have done exactly what The Nowak Family wanted: instigated riots, violence, division & social unrest. …Erm that is what The Nowak Family wanted I presume? 😳

I hadn't realised this son of immigrants, who wants to stop all immigration, had become a member of parliament. I must have slept.

Kevin Thurston8

Why platform this unelected cunt Laura?

Patrick8

A pure distillation of weaselly estate agent, dodgy solicitor and car showroom salesman.

Dave Hargreaves6

How did she let him get away with such a disingenuous answer not once but twice! She is either the worst journalist ever or a rightwing propagandist pretending to be a journalist. She isn't a Jeremy Paxman thats for sure.

Lorna the Sloven5

And it's been relentless: tweet after tweet after tweet.

Paul Russell5

I think they also wanted us to argue about it so much, Sir Michael, that no one can remember who Henry was or what really happened to him.

Andrew Brook5

Notice how he treats Keunberg with respect, compared to the insulting way he refused to engage with Cathy Newman.

Puffi Station One4

What's more important to you, Kuenssberg, operating as a decent and sensible journalist presenter with standards, or behaving like a gutter level, hate stirring, GB news hack?

Ellie2

As much as I love to comply with your wishes, Sir, that man creeps me out. Big time. If I met him in the street I'd scream and have a panic attack for a couple of years. I also apologise to David Icke for laughing at his lizardmen theory. 👾

Spencer2

I can confirm that the family would have wanted racist rioting if only the had the chance to properly consult with Reform leadership

Mike Freeman2

The thing is you cannot reason with a complete arse wipe of a tosser and that is what Yusuf and his Reform chums are!!
