Zia Yusuf criticised after appearance on Laura Kuenssberg
Reform UK spokesperson Zia Yusuf was criticized after an interview with BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg in which he misnamed the victim Henry Nowak as "Henry Digwa" while defending the party. When questioned why the party contacted Nowak's family two days after promoting the case, Yusuf said he would not comment on "confidential and private" conversations Nigel Farage had and declined several direct questions. The evasive answers and the on-air misname raise fresh questions about Reform UK's handling of sensitive allegations and could hurt the party's credibility with voters.
Huge thanks once again to Laura Kuenssberg for not being so impolite as to ask Zia Yusuf about me hiding a £5 million gift, being paid to throw an election or my dodgy house purchases.
Why is Zia Yusuf on BBC programme, what is qualifications any achievements ,@BBCnewsl
Shame Laura couldn’t have done a sicky and let Victoria stand in
Why isn't the £5million the only question, asked and asked again until someone from Reforn actually answers it?
That woman is pathetic but has moved on from just swooning at and noshing off Johnson to full on fascist enabler. Her parents must be so proud
Laura Kuenssberg - from Tory shill to reform shill. Yusuf is not even an MP FFS. And meanwhile the BBC are busy hounding Victoria Derbyshire - one of the few who will hold anybody and everybody to account...
Give her a plum job on Times radio like Jo Coburn got for her services. Wonder how many of the mugs watching think she's a unbiased journalist Nige? Triples and beach houses all round.
Imagine that fucking clown getting anywhere near power in WM!
Indeed “Nigel” We see you hiding in plain sight with the friendly interviewers … we could indicate “journalists”, but that would imply asking pertinent questions in the search for truth & transparency. In short, presenters like Kuenssberg & Mason only look insightful when challenging one spectrum
I wanted elected politicians interviewed on my political programmes. Is that too much to ask? Mohammed Zia Yusuf can be on that joke panel like Mogg or Lycett, that’s enough thanks.
Every time I see Muhammad Ziauddin Yusuf pop up on #BBCLauraK I'm reminded of how upset Nigel Farage would get at unelected people being platformed "None of you have been elected, none of you have any democratic legitimacy for the roles you currently hold"
SPOILER ALERT: As usual, Farage was lying about the EU being "unelected and unaccountable".
Farage himself is the unelected leader of his party.
But, but, but he's the 'Shadow Home Secretary' If we can all have imaginary jobs, what's yours?
He's never off the air. Why can't they use someone elected like 30p Lee to be their spokesperson...Ah.
And Reform having three MPs who were not elected on Reform platforms. Their constituents are not being represented according to their wish at the last election
I’m puzzled as to how Zia Yusuf can be Reform’s Home Affairs spokesperson when he’s not been elected, especially in light of Nigel Farage’s previous comments about unelected officials.
& many of you Reform MP's lack the competency or commitment for the positions you hold....
#bbclaurak Just to be clear Nigel Farage told people to have 'pure, cold rage'. That was an instruction rather than an understanding of what people felt. Understanding people's anger and looking at how we change things is what we want from politicians. Nigel Farage will never be fit to be PM.
I don't understand why failed human Jacob Rees Mogg hasn't joined Reform Ltd. He fully supports their warped ideology. He was totally wrong on Brexit - why is he still being platformed?
I'll give him this; I do feel pure cold rage... towards a grifting scumbag who ignores a grieving family's public request not to racialism this abhorrent murder, and tries to gain political capital by inciting (deniably ofc but it doesn't take a genius to work it out) race riots. 😡😡😡
That cunt will never be trusted to babysit let alone be prime minister. He’s had his Ratner moment
He was inciting a particular , focussed rage, the rage of the White Supremacists. He was calling them to war. It has nothing to do with how the country feels.
Farage and PM, two words that should never be used in the same sentence.
The problem with our democracies is that the likes of Farage and their parties undermine democracy, act against the interest of the country with their devisive talk are allowed in politics. If the majority wants them gone that is democracy as well. A minority of biggots is not more important
President Murdoch wants a PM he can wrap well and truly around his grubby little finger.
Incitement to violent action is what that it.
I'm sure Nigel would be OK if it turned out people had ' pure, cold rage' towards him and his fascist shit fuckers! Surely he'd support that? Or, is it only Nazis allowed to do that? Burn these fuckers like it's 1944!
He chose his words well To get a reaction from the far right of reform Who use violence to make their point
It was clear incitement and he should be being investigated under the Public Order Act 1986.
Politicians who exploit tragedy to create division and hate should be ashamed. What Farage did this week was despicable. #BBCLauraK
And journalists who fail to call it out should be ashamed.
As are journalists at the BBC and SKY who gleefully repeat the Two Tier Policing lie as if it had any merit whatsoever.
Laura K had the Farage representative for 10 minutes on her show and not a single time has asked him about the far right riots that followed Farage statement.
Something needs to be done of the interviewers. Trevor Philips either deliberately spread misinformation or it was sheer ignorance. I suspect the former. The government has to get a grip of the state of the media. Online and on tv
Keep asking about his £5 million bribe, and the newly reported $1 million bribe that both Farage and Johnson received. Kick corruption out of Parliament.
Oh, please! You might as well ask them to apologise. "Ashamed"?. Find a more damning word that properly sums them up. Or better still, use any mechanisms available to parliamentarians to call this out and punish it.
Politicians, especially right wing politicians, have no shame these days. They are beyond shame. Shame, as a concept does not even exist for them.
They should be jailed because that is what would happen to the rest of us. Since when did politicians place themselves above the law?
Can we change ‘ashamed’ to ‘arrested and tried for incitement’?
For me, a united parliament against Farage's sickening response was an overdue, welcome sight. Good to see and hear. The truly disgusting, if inevitable performance from Farage (who deliberately disrespected the wishes of a grieving family) was clearly offensive to all MPs - other than Farage's.
I agree and the MSM go along with it and promote it.
Farage, ashamed? Good one. He should be removed from Parliament and banned for life from public office This behaviour must have consequences.
If he isn’t repeatedly pulled up for this it will only embolden him to go further and further.
If Reform’s Zia Yusuf is concerned about black and brown people gaining systemic advantage over white people, maybe he should stand for election like others in his party? Surely that’s fair to all Reform members. In 2024 Yusuf donated £200,000 to the party. Weeks later he was named Chairman
Should Yusuf stand for election? Could you argue that his wealth and background gave him an advantage over others? Did Reform appoint him to combat racism claims? To appear more diverse? Did the system give him an advantage?
Genuine question, why has he not been selected for Makerfield? If they're so desperate for him to be part of their 'shadow cabinet ' why doesn't he have the guts to stand in an election?
Why is Reform allowed to act differently to other political parties? It is a private company, and people like Yusuf buy their way in.
The scourge of Brexo-Trumpism, sadly, will probably be with us for a while, but I do think that Reform are looking a spent force now they find themselves between the Tories and Elon Musk. It gives me some joy to think that Yusuf may have blown his £200K on the wrong donkey.
God, #bbclaurak is going to be a tough watch with fkng Rees-Mogg, the Victorian haunted pencil. Him, Michael Gove & Boris Johnson give me PTSD. Can't believe Sunderland voted the tories (Reform) into our local council. #FvckFarage
I've given up on watching political shows on BBC pretty much. Way to much Fuckface for me on them.
Sunday Morning tip of the day.. Do as I do, switch to the other BBC channel prior to 9am and you avoid watching the Right Wing Promotion show provided by the BBC 👍
They are a British version of trump fascism greed and treason, leftovers of the most corrupt, treacherous government this country ever had
I hope he gets a tongue-lashing akin to that dished out to Michael Gove on HIGNFY (it was actually a series of never-ending barbs). What is the BBC doing reanimating all these utter charlatans?
The bbc have dug him up have they? Ffs. 😬
I’ve switched off. I’m not ready not sure if I ever will be.
I think the bbc has contracted out their sunday morning programming to gb news.
Please listen to Zia Yusuf here. Those caring eyes. That sympathy. That empathy.❤️🩹 He & Reform have done exactly what The Nowak Family wanted: instigated riots, violence, division & social unrest. …Erm that is what The Nowak Family wanted I presume? 😳
I hadn't realised this son of immigrants, who wants to stop all immigration, had become a member of parliament. I must have slept.
Why platform this unelected cunt Laura?
A pure distillation of weaselly estate agent, dodgy solicitor and car showroom salesman.
How did she let him get away with such a disingenuous answer not once but twice! She is either the worst journalist ever or a rightwing propagandist pretending to be a journalist. She isn't a Jeremy Paxman thats for sure.
And it's been relentless: tweet after tweet after tweet.
I think they also wanted us to argue about it so much, Sir Michael, that no one can remember who Henry was or what really happened to him.
Notice how he treats Keunberg with respect, compared to the insulting way he refused to engage with Cathy Newman.
What's more important to you, Kuenssberg, operating as a decent and sensible journalist presenter with standards, or behaving like a gutter level, hate stirring, GB news hack?
As much as I love to comply with your wishes, Sir, that man creeps me out. Big time. If I met him in the street I'd scream and have a panic attack for a couple of years. I also apologise to David Icke for laughing at his lizardmen theory. 👾
I can confirm that the family would have wanted racist rioting if only the had the chance to properly consult with Reform leadership
The thing is you cannot reason with a complete arse wipe of a tosser and that is what Yusuf and his Reform chums are!!
The tragic death of Henry Nowak should not be used to sow division. Instead of condemning comments made by US politicians, Zia Yusuf chose to attack the BBC. Britain needs leaders who stand up to division, not fuel it. @joshbabarinde.bsky.social
Britain needs consequences for politicians who use inflammatory language and who lie - because as it stands there is no accountability so what's to stop them? At a minimum they should be removed from Parliament and never be allowed to hold public office again.
Here’s the #BBC “respecting” the wishes of the Nowak family… again #FuckTheBBC bsky.app/profile/impl...
Laura Kuenssberg politics show leading on Nigel Farage talking points. He sets the agenda and the BBC meekly follow. #BBCLauraK
BBC news and current affairs is an absolute disgrace!
BBC like a little lap dog is platforming Far Right Rage and his racist band of Nazis
I no longer watch BBC News or political output and really resent my licence fee being used to pay for woeful journalists like Kuennberg
Imagine a career built on toadying to dishonest narcissists.
Robbie Gibb. "He who must be obeyed." BBC is akin to Daily Mail TV now. As they admitted to me on complaining about its right wing bias, they now gear programmes with Farage's ReformUK company voters in mind. Not even pretending any more, yet Lisa Nandy sits on her hands doing nothing.
So why does the BBC allow all these unelected Reform 'spokespeople' to speak for Farage? They should demand that Farage turns up or no one does #BBCLaurak
The government needs to replace the BBC management now. It’s stuffed full of right wing shills with links to GB News.
This. Exactly. They always peddle Yusuf out as the mouthpiece. The thinking is that as an unelected gobshite he can get away with more.
Where are the campaigners on death in custody who actually have knowledge on this. Oh facts are not a BBC thing now
How this is framed is appalling. BBC politics journalism is enabling the far right.
The article manages to say "two-tier" on ten occasions including no less than three "two-tier Kier" opportunities. Repeating this far-right fantasy on the BBC might make it true.
That's the plan. The BBC no longer aims to Inform & Educate, but instead to Misinform & Manipulate.
