First look: Netflix reveals live-action Scooby-Doo puppy in 'Origins'
Netflix released a teaser showing a real Great Dane puppy cast as Scooby-Doo in Scooby-Doo: Origins, a live-action series slated to premiere in 2027. Creators Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are attached, and the clip presents the pup as a young Scooby WHO will help solve mysteries alongside human characters. The series marks the first time Scooby is portrayed by a live dog rather than animation or full CGI, signaling a more grounded visual approach for the long-running franchise.
First look at Scooby Doo in the live-action ‘SCOOBY DOO’ series. Coming soon to Netflix.
I won't be able to judge until I see him wrap a string around a really tall sandwich until it squishes down small enough for him to eat it.
thats not scooby doo, that's just a pup named scooby doo
If we're gonna keep reaching back for IP could we at least do a "live-action to cartoon" thing instead of the other way around. Like. Fuck it. Turn Moonlighting into an anime. Friends but make it Looney Tunes. Perfect Strangers in claymation. Fuckin' *something* goddamnit.
This is lame as hell
For first time ever, Scooby-Doo is being played by a real dog in Netflix's live action series SCOOBY-DOO: ORIGINS. Here's your first look at the Great Dane puppy. This good boy will help solve mysteries and murders when the series premieres on Netflix in 2027.
I'm fine with it so long as it can assemble a comedically tall sandwich and then eat it in a single bite.
"This good boy will help solve mysteries and murders when the series premieres on Netflix in 2027." Not for long he won't, he'll grow big fast. Though seeing as Netflix cancel everything after 1 series, that's not something he'll have to worry about.
Is he going to talk? No, I don't mean will he be overdubbed by a human voice actor, I mean WILL HE TALK
Excuse me but how is that dog going to make a 50 ingredient sandwich, shuffle the ingredients like a deck of cards, shove the entire thing in his mouth and then have his neck spring up and start making accordion sounds?
When Hollywood learn that the people yearn for puppets. just use the Scooby Doo puppet Jim Henson Creature Shop already created for the movie.
I can’t wait to not go see this
'Scooby Doo: Origins' is one of those 'if that was a joke it would feel a bit too on the nose' ones.
Twitter user Temper Florence: I invented Surf Dracula as a cautionary tale. Every streaming service: At last, we will bring to air 'Young Surf Dracula' from the iconic 'stop making Surf Dracula adaptations' tweet
does feel like a 30 Rock bit, with Tracy voicing Scrappy Doo
I feel like that old piece of writing advice 'Is this the most interesting time in your main characters life? If not, why aren't you writing about that?' is rather apt in this case
last scene is Fred spotting an ad in the newspaper: FOR SALE: VAN. Cut to credits.
Too on the cold wet nose
If this runs to multiple series, that dog's going to be pushing 30.
Scooby Doo, famouly a Great Dane, played by a CGI chocolate lab
It's odd. Do kids like Scooby-Doo? No, it aired 50 years ago. Do their parents like Scooby-Doo? No, it was being rerun when *they* were kids. Do their grandparents like Scooby-Doo? Not really, it was meh *at the time*
I did think they'd ended the project after Wolverine bombed
I feel the story of a dog who can speak, walk on two legs and has opposable thumbs could be a really interesting, dark story about animal experimentation, and I assume they won't go near that.
Next we need origin story for Clifford the Big Red Dog
