NYT: A federal judge on Monday struck down a Trump administration policy to impose a $100,000 fee on visas for skilled foreign workers. The policy for H-1B visa petitions had left many foreign workers in the United States stranded and unable to find companies willing to sponsor them.

Charging employers $100,000 to submit an H-1B petition amounts to an unlawful tax, outside of the authority Congress delegated to the executive on immigration, Judge Leo Sorokin ruled today. The Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit is currently considering the same question.
