Scott Pelley accuses Bari Weiss of tampering with 60 Minutes

journalismJun 9, 2026465,915

Scott Pelley says Bari Weiss pressured 60 Minutes editors and instructed him to alter coverage, including telling him to lie for Donald Trump. Leaked audio and insider accounts described by Pelley claim Weiss pushed edits to reporting on Renee Good and steered broader editorial decisions at CBS News. Pelley warned that a deal between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery could place Weiss over news editorial across both CBS News and CNN. These allegations raise questions about corporate or political influence shaping prime-time investigative reporting and could undermine public trust in major news programs.

Bari Weiss is holed up in her private CBS suite, inaccessible to staff and surrounded by a few handpicked sycophants, such as the former NYT Chik Fil A sandwich guy. Normal, competent editors do not act this way. Via @oliverdarcy.bsky.social

Over the last two weeks, as CBS News has found itself engulfed in unprecedented turmoil instigated by Bari Weiss' radical overhaul of "60 Minutes," the anti-
"woke" news chief has largely been physically isolated from the rest of her staff. Rather than being visible around the newsroom, Status has learned, Weiss has mostly bunkered down in her suite on the sixth floor of CBS News' Manhattan headquarters. There, she is surrounded only by her closest lieutenants, including deputies Adam Rubenstein and Charles Forelle. Notably absent from the suite is

Same. Though I wish they had! bsky.app/profile/hele...

I've had some terrible editors over the years, but none of them literally locked themselves away.

Wow she’s already in the bunker phase

Jamie Boudrie24

Live your life in a way that you don't need to lock yourself away from your own staff.

If only she were haunted by the ghosts of Edward Roscoe Murrow, Walter Leland Cronkite Jr. and myriad others.

I don't see any feasible way CBS can be saved. Best for everyone to avoid directly or indirectly supporting it and do what they can to make it go out of business. I do recommend the rest of the 60 minutes cast and crew resign and find a new home, though that is easier said than done.

Habeas Jocus13

Lol she got Matt Lauer's old office.

Might be time to bring out the head of lettuce.

William F. Tulloch10

She's just mimicking the mediocre white men who surround Donnie the #Deplorable and live on military bases instead of in DC. They're all incapable of dealing with regular people.

Louise10

I've stopped watching all CBS programming. Until she's gone I won't go back to CBS.

The normal editorial process of meeting with people and collaboratively developing stories is woke. Safe space paranoia is red pilled.

A true 'woman of the people', rubbing elbows with the unwashed only when required, otherwise locked away in her glass tower ...

Dictators start this way. Do you think she'll find a body double, after a while, for company cafeteria, and such?

she's like a bad college football coach.

Strikes me how a gay woman can be so supportive of an admin that hates gay women.

My sources tell me she is now living on a diet of cottage cheese and ketchup.

Führerbunkers come in many forms but the occupants are all the same.

None of this should remotely be a surprise. That things like this have shocked, shocked so many in the national media is a big part of the reason these people are winning. They are the scorpion. We’ve been frogs for far too long.

gnarlygale.bsky.social2

she’s in her safe space

bskwitter.bsky.social2

Is she saving her pee in mason jars yet?

Jon Thatcher2

Maybe making Kalshi bets on how long she will remain employed at CBS…
