Disclosure Day opens to strong reviews, praise for Blunt and Spielberg

I’m very pleased to have had the chance to storyboard DISCLOSURE DAY and work with Steven Spielberg, one of my filmmaking heroes.

I really liked DISCLOSURE DAY, and I found the last 10 minutes or so very emotionally moving. I don't really know why. But it's a really good movie and we're lucky to live at the same time as Spielberg.

Disclosure Day was good, not great. Excellent filmmaking of course with a fantastic Emily Blunt performance. You leave feeling like it could've just...done more. Still, elevated by Spielberg and the cast.

"DISCLOSURE DAY" is a movie about how people WILL, actually, still believe in and unify around the revelations of important truths rather than succumbing to conspiracism, skepticism or social-bubble resistance if you simply present it to them exactly the way Steven Spielberg would.

Disclosure Day thoughts w/ spoilers: It is set in 1984, but with cellphones. The Internet as we know it does not exist, local news is vibrant and trusted, the issue of AI and deepfakes unknown. It is utterly Spielbergian in its celebration of trust, wonder, empathy—childlike virtues. /1

Fully bought in on Disclosure Day now that I know it's at least a solid B-plus movie because nobody does a solid B-plus movie better than Spielberg. Bridge of Spies is possibly the best solid B-plus movie of the century.

i have watched Disclosure Day and basically my takeaway is that if there ever was a real disclosure day, it would be the most fun day to be online in history. better than the day Trump got covid or the day all those Elizabeth Warren staffers accidentally got holocaust tattoos

Saw Disclosure Day this morning. Stirred memories of forcing my parents to drive an hour into the city to see Close Encounters because that’s where it was in stereo. Of seeing E.T. at a sneak preview and proselytizing about it until it opened. Of our entire crew ditching work for Jurassic Park.

Spielberg called me up, practically begging me to stop changing Josh O'Connor's character's name in Disclosure Day to "Disclosure Dave" on IMDB and Wikipedia. I like Spielberg, so I'll stop. Maybe one more time, that's it.

If you're gonna go to the movies this weekend, see Disclosure Day or The Furious. Two expertly made films that know how to work an audience.

DISCLOSURE DAY - weird movie. People are dinging it for feeling dated, but the degree to which our protagonists are completely without agency and kind of stumbling through a hostile world (people say “why am I doing this?” multiple times as they do something) feels really contemporary and relevant

My wife just asked me what movie I was going to see and I stared over her shoulder for 15 seconds and eventually said, "Steven Spielberg alien movie," after desperately trying to pull the title from my brain. So maybe Disclosure Day is not the best title.
