Le Mans Hyperpole, Jack Aitken puts #38 Cadillac on pole

Cadillac will be on pole for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Former F1 driver Jack Aitken has just put in a dramatic lap and snatched it from BMW by 0.005s at the very end of qualifying. #LeMans24

Jack Aitken now has a thoroughly weird record. For the second year running, he has driven the fastest lap in Hyperpole at Le Mans, and on neither occasion has he taken pole position as a result. (Last year for AXR he had a faster lap in H1 than anyone managed in H2).

Jack Aitken has missed out on pole position for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans despite topping Hyperpole 2 for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA after breaching the race director’s rules, with BMW’s Dries Vanthoor inheriting top spot.
