Former South Korean president Yoon sentenced to 30 years over Pyongyang drone flights
A Seoul court on June 12 sentenced former South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol to 30 years in prison for ordering drone flights over Pyongyang in 2024. The court found Yoon used military assets to provoke tensions with North Korea and create a pretext for a brief martial law declaration that followed the incursions. The ruling also sentenced Yoon's former defense minister to 30 years in prison. The verdict matters because it imposes one of the harshest penalties on a recent South Korean leader and raises urgent questions about civil-military oversight and regional stability with North Korea.

that’s the way to deal with a tyrant. USA take notes.
That’s the way you deal with this kind of awful abuse of power
Republicans talk about morals, rule of law but instead they exposed themselves to having any at all. Backing Trump on jan 7th and voting he did no wrong after being sent running for their lives. There'll come a time when they and Trump pay for their treasonous behavior just like Yoon Suk Yeol is.
THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE.
Is it still alleging when he's been convicted? Come on.
It hurts watching others live out your dreams.
a little bit redundant because he's already doing life in prison, but worth emphasizing that Yoon very much *risked a nuclear war* to try and stay in power. www.npr.org/2026/06/12/n...
really underrated scandal how much Washington pundits were going to bat for Yoon and South Korean conservatism, by the way. there was a lot of money sloshing around.
His plan was to literally have the military straight-up kill the opposition. He’s lucky they didn’t bring back the death penalty just for him.
