Elon Musk becomes world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX IPO

techJun 13, 2026814,458

SpaceX's first day of trading jumped roughly 19%, valuing the company near $2.1 trillion and lifting Elon Musk's net worth to about $1 trillion, making him the world's first trillionaire. SpaceX recorded negative net income in two of the last three years, yet the IPO assigned the private rocket maker a valuation that outstrips many profitable aerospace peers. That concentration of private wealth gives Musk unprecedented financial power over technology and infrastructure investments and raises questions about taxation, corporate governance, and oversight of commercially run space assets.

TESLA: A shitty company that loses money and makes bad cars that blow up. TWITTER: A shitty platform that ruined civil discourse and loses money. SPACEX: A shitty company whose rockets explode and only survived thanks to government welfare. WALL STREET: "OMG! Elon Musk is a business genius!!!!!"

Biggest corporate welfare queen to ever exist. The immigrant that should be deported. 🤨

This guy is their savior?!?!

Some guy7

And don’t forget that he didn’t build a single one of those companies. He’s pretty good at two things: weaseling his way into controlling companies and convincing bro-dudes that he’s gonna build amazing tech stuff way faster than he ever does.

Musk wasn't born a billionaire. OUR TAX MONEY made Musk a billionaire. Here is just one example from 2015 👇 He has been given BILLIONS more since then. Who made decisions to give him BILLIONS of OUR TAX dollars? WHO? www.latimes.com/business/la-...

And poor people on SNAP and immigrants are why we can’t have nice things 🫥

That Worldly Guy5

Tesla makes money, a lot of money. By selling carbon credits. To offset Anthropogenic Global Warming that Musk doesn't believe is real.

Paul Krugman calls Musk a human ponce scheme

I truly do not understand why people think Elon Musk is smart, let alone a genius. He leveraged his family’s mining fortune to buy his way onto boards of already successful companies. He adds no value to anything. He overpromises and vastly under delivers. He’s a classic case of failing up.

Edum4

I still believe it’s only a matter of time before the fundamentals catch up to him. These businesses are grossly overvalued and everyone knows it. They’re based solely on Elon vibes. And when the vibes turn on Elon and the rest of the oligarchs it’s gonna crash quickly.

And space x was initially backed by pay pal Thiel

Fight for right3

YOU'RE CORRECT! ALL, his 'Triumphant' businesses and ideas were COSTLY to consumers, and mostly defective!! YET, he managed to prosper from them!!.hmmm, it looks like i took a wrong turn on the path of MY CHOSEN CAREER!! I SHOULD have been a corrupt liar and cheater who had no conscience or sympathy

Tonda3

Just like trump is a "successful business man" - who's been bankrupt several times and failed umpteen businesses 🤷🏻‍♀️

Investors forgot already about his private stash of ketamine, Nazi salute, trying to influence elections, and all the previous BS that he peddled about Mars, Grok, and autonomous vehicles. Oh well, the sheep will get sheared.

And someone who was born with a silver spoon and got to buy other people’s creations. Never had one original idea that is actually worth the money he has.

I’m really excited for the day AI falls because Elon Musk will fall too!

spacex is a large-scale fireworks company

Dude, right?!! He’s a shitbag and they keep throwing money at him.

Bought by and for the "government" of the United States.

Paul Harper2

That's a reflection more on how shitty (and corrupt) Wall Street is rather than Musk.

Elon Musk SpaceX IPO launches today, it is expected to lose 80-90% of its 'worth' in the first 3 months. If you buy you are going to lose so much money so quickly.

We want the kind of people who love him to buy so they can lose wealth.

Beth Nixon9

Good, hope it goes fucking bankrupt.

Margaret Baker8

I wish I could tell the index funds in my retirement accounts not to buy Space X but that’s not an option. We’ll all sink together as the muskrat floats on top.

I think Starlink is the only real generator of profits - and that has limited growth potential as it's very expensive for customers. Those that have a choice will go elsewhere for their internet access. Most of those who don't have a choice can't afford Starlink.

andrewsawyou.bsky.social7

Isn't it odd that the media isn't mentioning it's worth from 11 months ago when it was valued at $400 billion and that it still hasn't made a profit yet?

Dub⚕️6

Oh sweet baby jeebus I hope that is what happens. I would LOVE to see a bunch of tech bros lose their shirts investing in Captain Smoothbrain’s Space Grift.

I watched a woman on a flight earlier this week emailing an advisor for shares while we were on final approach. She was so consumed, not paying attention as we started to deplane, and was grazed in the head by a backpack. I smirked under my mask while she acted offended but didn’t say anything. 😏

It’s going to crash, just like the rockets 🤪

Going to include a whole bunch of folks 401k money. Index based ETFs are required to buy. Do you know what funds your money is invested in?
