The shutdown of Compulsion Studios JUST after South of Midnight is complete and utter bullshit. And yeah, it’s racism. The amount of hate this game got was asinine. Microsoft is genuinely useless because this is EXACTLY WHY XBOX IS A DYING SECTION OF GAMING. WE AINT HAD A GOOD XBOX ERA SINCE ??????

I've been saying since mid-2022: The Activision buyout, specifically the regulatory response that led to Microsoft reading the $100b tab they'd racked up buying Xbox studios the prior 5y, will go down as one of the most catastrophic in game history. Nobody wins, especially not consumers.

in one week, Xbox went from hosting a fan festival, giving interviews, and announcing games to layoffs, sudden pivots, and now potentially closing or spinning off studios, including one that announced a game the week prior. in case you needed more reason to not take their statements at face value.

I'ma really need high level game folk to start holding these people accountable. Some of y'all went to Summer Game Fest and acted like everything was fine with Xbox and the other studios and then acted surprised when those same people announced they're closing studios and having layoffs. Like..

Looking back at this list from the 2021 era and it's hard not to be sad at this fumble of talent and potential. Xbox could have laid a solid foundation to build a diverse lineup that any other publisher would be envious of. Instead they got layoffs, closures, or survivor's guilt and an escape plan.
