Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon Reality Elite chip

techJun 16, 20261330

Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon Reality Elite XR chipset at the Augmented World Expo, promising about 30% CPU, 60% GPU and 160% NPU performance gains versus the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2. The platform supports passthrough and see-through displays, can drive up to 4.4K per eye, and includes efficiency improvements Qualcomm says can yield roughly 20% longer battery life. It will debut this fall in the compute puck of Xreal's Aura Android XR headset. By combining much stronger on-device AI with laptop-class graphics in a low-power XR chip, Qualcomm aims to make practical standalone AR and mixed-reality glasses viable for navigation, productivity and gaming.
