Mondelez defends keeping Cadbury operations in Russia
Mondelez chief Dirk Van de Put said keeping Cadbury manufacturing and sales operations in Russia after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 was "the right decision." He defended the stance despite critics arguing that profits and taxes from those Russian operations flow to the Russian government and help fund its military actions in Ukraine. Van de Put said staying protects local jobs and preserves supply chains for employees and consumers in Russia. The choice matters because it forces consumers and regulators to balance corporate claims about employee protection against ethical concerns over whether company activity funds a wartime government.
It really is bleak where Cadbury's, a deeply ethical company with a beautiful history, has ended up. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
There is a massive gap in the market for someone to set up a new company selling old recipe Cadburys. Some old Brummie pensioner knows the industrial recipe, has a very lapsed NDA and you know it would be sold out everywhere.
Honestly, the best thing to do with that oil wax they're passing off as Dairy Milk is to throw it out the nearest loose Russian window.
Much of it can’t be called Chocolate either..
I don’t like chocolate but the OH stopped buying Cadbury a long time ago Better alternatives are available: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony's_...
Another product to add to my "never buy" list. Won't be too much of a sacrifice though, the chocolate tastes awful now
I stopped buying it. Unethical and it tastes like plastic now.
Typical of big business headed by a Dutch CEO to see his profits over ethical conduct for his shareholders.
A tragedy that it was sold - and Rowntrees too. Its a boycott from me!
I’ve boycotted Cadbury from the day it was sold. not too late for anyone else to start
