Knicks ticker-tape parade in Lower Manhattan
The New York Knicks will be celebrated with a ticker-tape parade through Lower Manhattan's Canyon of Heroes on Thursday after winning their first NBA title since 1973. The parade will run from Battery Park to City Hall and end with a City Hall ceremony where the team will receive keys to the city, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced 600 free tickets for that ceremony. The NYPD will deploy more than 10,000 uniformed officers, the largest police deployment for a single planned event in city history, as officials prepare for massive crowds along the roughly 0.7-mile route. The event matters because it caps a postseason that ended a 53-year title drought and revives New York's storied ticker-tape tradition for a home championship team.
