Peacock gave a straight-to-series order for a live-action adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s Dungeon Crawler Carl, with Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door and Universal Global Television producing and Chris Yost serving as writer and executive producer; Dinniman will also executive-produce. The show will adapt Dinniman’s LitRPG saga about survivors of an alien invasion forced into a deadly intergalactic game show, a series that already spans five-plus books. Peacock’s straight-to-series bet and MacFarlane’s attachment signal a major push to bring the niche LitRPG genre to mainstream streaming and leave room for multiple seasons from abundant source material.
