Jonathan Toews retires after 16 NHL seasons

Jonathan Toews announced his retirement Friday, ending a 16-season NHL career in which he served as captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. He is a three-time Stanley Cup champion who led Chicago to titles in 2010, 2013, and 2015 and finished last season with his hometown Winnipeg Jets. His departure closes one of the defining captaincies in modern Blackhawks history and marks the end of an era for both Chicago and Winnipeg.
