FEC filings confirm GOP meddling in Dem primaries

politicsJun 21, 20262284

FEC filings show pop-up PACs Lead Left and Real Change were fully funded by a Republican-linked super PAC that funneled more than $4.3 million into Democratic primaries. Those two groups spent across Democratic congressional primaries in Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Nebraska, and Maine to boost candidates many strategists viewed as less electable. The filings show the groups were timed as pop-up super PACs to exploit FEC reporting deadlines so donor identities remained hidden until after primaries. By elevating weaker Democratic nominees, the GOP-linked spending could flip vulnerable seats in the general election and erode confidence in the nomination process.
