Ed Miliband urges UK to stick to net zero, cites over £100bn private pledges

When you combine stuff like this with the ongoing heat jamboree, anyone talking about abandoning net zero should be laughed out of town as not just unserious but deeply, deeply stupid.

Putting aside that Ed Miliband is, of course, the modern equivalent of a Nigerian dictator, he is the logical choice for Chancellor because: A) he has treasury experience. B) he has made the transition to government well. C) Net zero is the closest thing Labour has to an economic policy.

Insightful piece from @stephenkb.bsky.social on how Burnham might save Labour and the Tories from Reform. He may well be right - but is a Conservative party committed to mass deportations, abandoning Net Zero and leaving the ECHR really an upgrade on Faragism? It doesn't look that way to me.

Some numbers from the government on how much investment is going in to green energy. £100bn over 8 years actually isn't that much in the grand scheme of things - averages about 0.4% of GDP, compared to total investment at about 17% of GDP. BUT this is likely to be major under counting...
