Texas anti-ICE protesters given at least 50-year terrorism sentences

newsJun 23, 2026326,366

A federal judge in Texas on Tuesday sentenced eight Prairieland anti-ICE protesters convicted on terrorism charges to prison terms of at least 50 years, with Benjamin "Champagne" Song receiving 100 years. Prosecutors tied the July 4, 2025 attack on the Prairieland ICE detention center to a purported North Texas antifa cell and secured convictions for providing material support to terrorists after weeks of testimony and cooperating-witness evidence. Legal observers and activists say the unprecedented multi-decade terrorism sentences convert protest-related conduct into federal counterterrorism penalties and could set a national precedent under the Trump administration’s crackdown on dissent.

Both these headlines are from Texas this month. Texas sentenced anti-ICE protestors to 100 years in prison, but a serial pedophile to only 30 days. This is MAGA exemplified.

When a Democratic president pardons these protestors it will be compared to Trump’s pardons despite the completely different circumstances and behaviors

@SuzanaD329

Why anyone lives in TX is beyond me

@von67trumpet24

That 100 year sentence is a cruel and excessive punishment.

I love Texas barbecue, and I know there are good people in Texas, but it’s hard for me to imagine ever willingly setting foot in Texas again

How is this not a violation of the 8th Amendment?

Ummm judge…we’re not a democracy, we’re a republic

Cannot believe the 100 year sentence will stand

Texas is a failed state

Storming the capital with the intent of murdering the vice president to overthrow an election and then pardoning those terrorists is the assault on democracy.

Chris Tyrell2

If it is a carry state, he should only be charged with manslaughter, these ICE do not deserve federal protection.

Debra Lee2

Is this judge angling for a SCOTUS seat?

the best chance the Prairieland anti-ICE protesters have is that we keep their names and their case on our lips as we eventually move to a post-Trump era, that we fight for their pardon as an essential part of departing from fascism.

You can tell if a movement is serious by whether or not it abandons its prisoners, especially the "messy" ones. If Trump-era political prisoners are not released after he is removed from office, then the specter of Trump will not be gone.

Blackcap37

And it’s gonna take pressure. Everything I know about the Democratic Party indicates as strong proclivity on their part to throw the Prairieland anti-ICE activists under the bus.

Velvet Hydrangea20

A pardon accepts guilt & sets precedent. We need their convictions overturned.

stiffelman.bsky.social15

O’Connor is a certifiable nutjob and fascist bigot. Most of his wackiest rulings have routinely been reversed on appeal. But even in light of his previous crusades, this defies belief.

Chrislovesdogs6

People get much shorter sentences than those for first-degree murder.

scornedonce.bsky.social3

It must be a part of every candidates day one platform.

PictureTheSouth3

A pardon, and acceptance thereof, is an acceptance of guilt. Skip straight to expungement and apology.

kmcm3

Isn’t the best chance the defendants will win on appeal & the judge will be sanctioned for cruel & unusual punishment? Having to sit it out in prison until Democrats gain control & unravel so much harm could be a long wait

The heartbreaking part of that is that it's at least 3 years, and Texas notoriously has some of the most dangerous prisons in the US. 💔

There has to be a reckoning for all these maga judges

Dad Influence2

Absolutely. These absurd sentences are not standing in America, nfw

Spartacuss872

Is there a list of people who should be pardoned by the next president? Those who are falsely accused and railroaded by Trump's DOJ?

DOJ says Praireland defendants have been sentenced to a combined 450 years in prison.

Leader of Antifa Cell Members in North Texas Sentenced to 100 Years in Prison for Terrorist Attack on ICE Facility

Seven Additional Defendants Also Sentenced Before One-Year Anniversary of Attack to a Combined 450 Years in Prison

WASHINGTON — Today, the Justice Department announced that eight North Texas Antifa Cell operatives were sentenced for their roles in rioting, using weapons and explosives, providing material support to terrorists, obstruction, and the attempted murder of an Alvarado police officer at the Prairieland Detention Center on July 4, 2025. This is the first sentencing of defendants affiliated with Antifa following President Donald J. Trump’s executive order designating the group as a Domestic Terrorist Organization in September 2025.

Benjamin Hanil Song, who was convicted of the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, was sentenced to 100 years in prison. Together, the Prairieland terrorists received a combined sentence of 450 years in prison:

Maricela Rueda was sentenced to 70 years in prison;
Cameron Arnold was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Savanna Batten was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Zachary Evetts was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Bradford Morris was sentenced to 50 years in prison;
Elizabeth Soto was sentenced to 50 years in prison; and
Daniel Rolando Sanchez-Estrada was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
“The sentences handed down today make clear that Antifa terrorists who attack law enforcement and federal facilities will face swift and uncompromising justice,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “Their violent extremism has no place in our country, and the Department of Justice will continue to aggressively investigate, disrupt, and prosecute those who threaten law enforcement officers or undermine the rule of law.”
