A United Nations independent international commission of inquiry concluded that Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children in Gaza, finding those actions amount to genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. The three-member panel said about 30% of Gaza's fatalities since October 7, 2023 were children, estimating roughly 73,035 people killed and more than 21,280 children dead between October 2023 and October 2025. Israel rejected the findings, calling the report a "libellous sham." The commission's conclusions raise the prospect of international legal scrutiny and sharpen calls for accountability for military and political leaders involved in the Gaza campaign.
