Frank Carone, who served as Eric Adams' chief of staff, was arrested Wednesday on federal charges of bribery, money laundering and wire fraud tied to a city contract. Federal prosecutors say Carone, his brother Anthony Carone and two hotel operators were indicted for steering more than $100,000 in city emergency migrant housing funds to a Queens hotel, naming hotel owner Yan Po Zhu. The indictment says the scheme funneled contract payments through intermediaries to benefit the hotel and organizers, a development that puts new scrutiny on how New York awarded emergency shelter contracts during the migrant crisis and on Carone’s network of ties to Adams.
