Mexico defeated Czechia 3-0 to finish Group A with a perfect 3-0-0 record, topping the group after wins over South Africa and South Korea. Santiago Giménez scored in the match and El Tri kept their third straight clean sheet of the group stage. Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa entered as a substitute, marking his sixth World Cup appearance and drawing an emotional response at the stadium. South Africa finished second in Group A and also advanced to the Round of 32. Mexico advances to the knockout stage as group winners and will face a Round of 32 opponent next in the tournament bracket.
