Manchester City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign 23-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson for a fee of up to £130 million; the move remains subject to Anderson finalising personal terms and completing a medical. The agreement follows a fresh, improved offer from City that persuaded Forest to accept, David Ornstein reports. Clubs expect to complete the formalities while City are on their United States tour, with Anderson due to undergo a medical in the U.S. City identified Anderson as a priority to bolster their midfield this summer. A fee approaching £130 million would rank among the largest transfers in Premier League history and will substantially increase Nottingham Forest's transfer resources for the summer window.

It’s starting to make sense why average to decent level midfielders are currently £20-30m over priced. It’s actually a brilliant move from City. Get their player and price out other teams from their targets or force them to overpay.

I honestly don't know what realistic, practical fees are anymore in the premier league. Elliot Anderson ~£130 million, if someone says 115 are inflating market again, I'll say maybe. If someone says he is worth it, I'll say maybe. Morgan Rodgers won't be at reasonable fees either for Arsenal.

It feels a little bit like Elliot Anderson is the ‘Erling Haaland’ midfielder & other top clubs will be scrabbling around for ‘Rasmus Hojland’ style alternatives. I completely get why we wouldn’t go for him, given the amount of improvements we need to make - but those additions need to be spot on.
