Absolute Batman animated series greenlit with Scott Snyder attached
Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios announced at the Annecy International Film Festival that Absolute Batman has been greenlit as an animated series, with writer Scott Snyder attached as showrunner and artist Nick Dragotta serving as a producer. The adaptation will draw on Snyder and Dragotta’s Absolute Batman comics, which recast Bruce Wayne as a working-class Dark Knight battling impossible odds in an alternate-universe Gotham. The Annecy slate also included a Joker: Laugh Riot anime and an all-ages Krypto series, and Warner Bros. Animation said Absolute Batman is now in development with no release date announced.
Absolute Batman tv show that's faithful to the comic is pretty much exactly what we've all been saying western comics needed in order to compete properly with Manga for the past decade or so lol Really cool to see and hopefully this is a door for Absolute Wonder Woman, too.
Personally, between all the Absolute comics, I do think Wonder Woman would benefit the most from a show. She is a character that has just never gotten the animated tv show that would really propel her to the sales she should be bringing in (and we all know why...)
call me cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping this is the sign that companies are willing to try new things but I hear "western media is going to be like the anime industry" and I go "but in what ways"
