Absolute Batman animated series greenlit with Scott Snyder attached

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios announced at the Annecy International Film Festival that they have greenlit an Absolute Batman animated series with writer Scott Snyder serving as showrunner and artist Nick Dragotta attached as a producer. The project will be a fully computer-generated animated show adapting Snyder and Dragotta's Absolute Batman comic, which reimagines Bruce Wayne as a working-class hero contending with a far more violent Gotham. Snyder and Dragotta’s direct involvement signals the comic’s creators will steer the series’ story and visual design rather than handing the property to outside writers. Studio presenters described the adaptation as aiming for a distinct tone and a different take on Batman compared with prior animated versions. The series is now in development at Warner Bros. Animation; no release date, episode count, or distribution platform has been announced yet.
