Former NOAA staffers launched climate.us, a nonprofit website that recreates content from the federal climate site climate.gov after that government platform was taken offline under the Trump administration. Climate.us was formed in June 2026 and includes Rebecca Lindsey, the former managing editor of NOAA’s Climate.gov, among its organizers. The site hosts climate science previously on climate.gov, including data, reports, articles, and congressionally mandated national climate assessments. Climate.gov was closed after President Trump’s 2025 "Restoring Gold Standard Science" executive order prompted NOAA to remove the federal climate platform; climate.gov now redirects to NOAA.gov/climate. Climate.us presents resources on hurricanes, extreme weather, and climate change for scientists, educators, farmers, and the public. Organizers say about 2,500 small donations helped get the site started, and the relaunch preserves public access to datasets and assessments while the federal pages remain offline.
