Court lifts anonymity order on 13 men in Stockport rape case

A court has lifted an anonymity order for 13 co-defendants charged alongside a Stockport man accused of drugging and raping his wife. The main defendant, reported to be in his 60s, faces charges that include administering a substance with intent between 2004 and 2025 and conspiring with others to drug and rape his wife between 2018 and 2025; his name remains protected to preserve the victim's anonymity. The 13 co-defendants now exposed in court papers include a paramedic, a junior football coach, a taxi driver, a DJ, a dog walker and a member of a walking football team. Reporting restrictions were lifted ahead of a trial listed to begin on September 1. One report notes a paramedic among the defendants was previously photographed with Prince Harry. Prosecutors allege the co-defendants helped the main defendant sexually abuse the victim at her Stockport home; the lifting of anonymity allows the media to name those 13 individuals during pretrial proceedings. The court decision means local reporting and identification of the co-defendants will be possible while the central defendant’s identity remains shielded to protect the complainant.
