Hearing Are Friends Electric? for the first time in suburban 1979 Britain must have been like a bucket of cold water in the face when you've spent all afternoon in your nanna's front room with the fire on full blast. In a good way. #TOTP

First gig I went to: Gary Numan, 1983. It was fantastic. Loads of very serious blokes with dyed hair. They had absurdly glamorous tall girlfriends who were all lovely to this shy 12 old nipper in his black shirt and red tie. #TOTP

FYI - I reckon Gary got the idea for his stage costumes after seeing me and my mate dressed in boiler suits and wide belts, walking up and down the Kings Road a couple of years before this came out. 😏 #TOTP
