Vanilla Ice was scheduled to perform at Donald Trump’s Freedom 250 Great American State Fair on the National Mall on Friday, June 26, but organizers canceled his set after announcing the fair would close early because of severe weather and heavy rain. The cancellation came less than two hours before his scheduled appearance; Vanilla Ice had spent part of the afternoon promoting the event from Washington, D.C. Irish Star and other reports said very few people turned out for the show before the rain began. Organizers closed the fair early that night, ending planned performances and leaving the headliner’s set unperformed. Critics and some press framed the rained-out headliner as another negative development for the Freedom 250 festival amid questions about turnout and logistics.
