Tens of thousands of people across the UK marked Armed Forces Day on 27 June 2026 with local parades, military displays and civic events, including a large gathering in Aldershot and community celebrations in Stockport, Catford, Stowmarket and South Gloucestershire. Councillors from Newcastle Liberal Democrats and others attended local tributes, while veterans, cadets and serving personnel featured in parades and exhibitions such as historic vehicles on Brandon Terrace and a special Northern Railway service photographed at Kirton in Lindsey. Community campaigns also featured, with Sittingbourne and Sheppey promoting the Armed Forces Covenant and local hubs hosting commemorations and poetry readings recalling wartime relatives. A video highlighting the Princess of Wales and Prince George visiting the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby was shared to mark the day. Organisers announced that Southport will host the national Armed Forces Day event in 2027, with Sefton Council and the Southport Armed Forces Community Hub named as local partners for the national programme.
