Armed Forces Day, Southport named 2027 national host

Tens of thousands across the UK marked Armed Forces Day on 27 June 2026 with local parades, services and community events paying tribute to serving personnel, veterans and cadets. Events ranged from flag-raising ceremonies in the Palace of Westminster to town parades that featured military vehicles and exhibits, and some commemorations also highlighted veterans' mental health and PTSD support. Organisers and civic leaders thanked service members for their dedication and sacrifice and encouraged wider civic commitments such as signing the Armed Forces Covenant. Separately, Southport was announced as the national host for the 2027 Armed Forces Day event, giving the town responsibility to stage the main national celebrations next year.
