Serena Williams called tennis' anti-doping testing 'grueling', 'unprofessional' and 'unreasonable', saying the protocols 'almost put her off' returning to Wimbledon. Williams, who is mounting a comeback at age 44 and plans to play singles and doubles at the Championships, said the testing regime was a major factor she had to overcome to accept Wimbledon’s invitation. She added blunt commentary such as 'I hate it' about the process. Lindsey Vonn, another athlete in her 40s, noted she understands Williams’ situation as she prepares for the tournament. Williams is set to play on Centre Court on Tuesday, with her singles match against Maya Joint scheduled on the third rotation.
