Comcast announced it will split into two publicly traded companies, spinning off NBCUniversal and Sky into a standalone media company by mid-2027. The new NBCUniversal unit will bring together Universal Pictures, NBC, Telemundo, Peacock, Bravo, Sky and the theme parks, separating those assets from Comcast’s broadband and wireless businesses. Comcast said the separation will be executed as a tax-free spinoff and will create a pure-play media company to be led by Mike Cavanagh, currently Comcast’s co-chief executive. Given the current business climate going on with "mass consolidation = good business", I won't be surprised if Universal gets bought out by another entity in a few years. But I hope not. I just hope this means their IPs like Felix The Cat can get better treatment without Comcast's involvement.

I have no idea how I feel about Comcast spinning off NBCUniversal. My only worry is that once again affect the film industry and cause more jobs and projects to be scrapped, or worse, gets another company greedy and wanting to start another merger. Either way, I'm just so tired.

I mean, compared to Disney-Fox and Warner-Discovery, this spin-off is less of a sin compared to those if anything. The only thing that I will miss from when the NBCUniversal spin-off happens is not seeing the Xfinity commercials with Universal's films being represented in them:

Seems like a good idea to separate them, don't want the economic difficulties of one dragging down the other one. The cable utility business is very different from the media production business, not that much synergy.

Not saying this should happen, but Netflix getting NBCUniversal would probably get less pushback from antitrust than Warner Bros since Peacock is incredibly small compared to HBO Max. Netflix just wouldn’t want a broadcast network with NBC and Telemundo.
