Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed strikes overnight into July 1 on the JSC Research Institute of Physical Measurements (NIIFI) in Penza, Russia. NIIFI is a Roscosmos-affiliated institute that makes sensors used on cruise and ballistic missiles, with posts naming systems including Su-34 and Su-57 jets, Kh-101 and Kh-59 missiles, and Bulava, Topol-M, Sineva and Iskander rockets. Geolocated footage and reporting indicate the strike hit the NIIFI site and a nearby power substation, causing fire and damage.
