U.S. adds 57,000 jobs in June, unemployment 4.2%
Today's NYT jobs report coverage (left) compared to exactly 2 years ago under Biden (right). Notice the numbers.
And compared to Reuters today:
Here's one heading into the presidential election
Both voters and the US press have deeply internalized the wildly inaccurate notion that Republicans are better for the economy.
And from within their own story. "GLACIAL"
1/4 the job growth and it’s great. What a sycophant the NYT is now. 😢
Media played a huge role in the downfall of this country, and they continue to prop up the fascists
"This is Democrat's fault for not Messaging better."

Where is this liberal media I keep hearing so much about? 🤷♂️
The New York Times is a conservative outlet. They only pander to liberals, but their biases are EVERYWHERE when you pay attention
You don’t hate The New York Times enough
I wish people would acknowledge this more. The MSM has been hammering Dems for a long time now. The SC being super conservative and taking away our rights is a direct line from the NYT and others favoring the GOP
You basically kabuki theater of “liberal MSM” that pretends to be so, and cons pretend it is.
Oooh here are two examples that would be great for a lesson in media literacy
People have lost the wisdom they learned from the Great Recession because of fucking Will Stancil types. Anything less than 250k jobs per month is a net job loss because population growth adds 250k net people to the labor force every month.
JUST IN: Disappointing June jobs report under Trump. The U.S. added just 57,000 jobs — well below the 115,000 expected. Hospitality lost 61,000 jobs. April and May numbers revised down by 74,000. Wage growth (3.5%) is lagging behind inflation (~4%). Trump’s economy is stalling.

"Hospitality lost 61,000 jobs" Obviously nothing to do with the nosedive in tourist numbers thanks to Herr Trump alienating the entire planet?
Top contributing factors: -Trump’s tariffs -⬇️ tourism due to decreased numbers of foreign visitors -⬇️ domestic travel due to Affordability crisis -Deportations have further beleaguered the industry by directly depleting the immigrant labor supply that many hotels and restaurants rely on.
Happy Trump Recession™️ to all who celebrate! The orange demon has done it again! Destroyed a thriving economy. Again. Guess it would have been better if more folks would have voted for the Black lady.
When hospitality falls that is an indicator of a decline in discretionary spending as well as tightening of corporate travel budgets. The trend is clear. The squeeze is on.
how many of these jobs are considered temporary due to the world cup matches?
The MAGA admin: post numbers that are bad but credible. Wait two months. Then quietly revise those numbers down. And those numbers will also be artificially high. People looking for a job know how bad this economy is. The numbers don’t tell the story.
Gosh golly gee whiz, what are all those red lines?
All told, the U.S. economy has added 668,000 jobs over Trump’s 18-month second term. Over the previous 18 months, the economy added over 2.4 million jobs. To date, the White House hasn’t even tried to explain why the job market worsened after Trump took office. www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...
They don’t defend it bc they don’t care. As long as the oligarchs are doing great that is all that matters to this administration.
Because they know Tariffs are anti-growth. But Tariffs allow them to personally profit thru payoffs. Trump and friends get their tribute. It's why Bessent can so easily lie when he goes on TV a) he goes on friendly shows only b) hes making huge bank personally

Did someone have early access to the crop report?
How does payroll growth miss plus a downward revision but unemployment beats? Just more people than expected leaving the labor market or is there something else that affects it?
Maybe not quite as strong a rebound as we were hoping for...
Checking in on enemy territory to see how this is being covered
U.S. employers added 57,000 jobs in June and the unemployment rate dipped to 4.2 percent. Data: www.bls.gov/news.release... Full coverage: www.nytimes.com/live/2026/07... #NumbersDay
April and May's gains were both revised down somewhat, by a combined 74,000 jobs.
Why did the push notification from the NYTimes described this as "steady", when under Biden quadruple the amount of Job growth was usually described as sluggish?
Yeah, well, I’m more than a little suspicious of any & everything that Trump’s BLS puts out.
Biden averaged 316,000 jobs per month and dropped the unemployment rate from 6.7 to 4.1%. It’s all Biden’s fault that he set the bar so high.
It is Summer!! Is no one hiring for Summer jobs? This just seems super low to me and we are hosting the World Cup too!!
Charts! Starting with the big picture: Job growth slowed in June (and April/May were revised down), but the pickup in hiring this year remains intact. #NumbersDay
I love trying to find a job in this economy 🙃
This brought to you buy the same administration that reports Trump is 6'3".
Breaking news: The U.S. economy added 57,000 jobs in June, less than expected. The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.2 percent, according to Labor Department data.
Chart of jobs added for 5 years…. Billionaires don’t really need jobs, they have their investments, the stock market & properties. The rest of us need to work to live. #jobsreport
The only sector that has been hiring for the last 2 years is healthcare and social assistance. Republicans trying to kill off that sector as well. Thanks MAGA.
