VRChat creators pushed a wave of new worlds and avatar assets this week as meetups and photography nights pick up, highlighted by the announced NUCLEUS II release on July 11 to 12 with an early exploration event on July 4. New spaces drawing attention include Shallows, a cozy undersea home patrolled by a large whalelike creature, and Last Station Home, a quiet endpoint world; other entries lean into summer resort vibes and moody ruin or ocean atmospheres. A pair of sprinkler avatar assets and a Plaid Kitty style update for the Mayu avatar surfaced alongside the world drops, while some community posts called out creators for using AI to generate world thumbnails and preview art. At least one participant described a transformative moment at a recent Stage Flight 3 event, saying new flying animations made exploring feel unexpectedly freeing even without VR.

it feels sooo dishonest and deceitful to try and hide what your world actually looks like over some AI remix on a screencap you took of your world.

Genuinely an AI tag on worlds would be wonderful, I hate finding what I think is a pretty world then there’s AI generated posters everywhere. Legit just use stock images, hell leave the watermark in just AAAA anything

yeah.. it really sucks when going to a world that looks so nicely done, only to realise the skybox is clearly some midjourney slop x.=.x biggest tell is stars being in front of what are clearly clouds... if it's a nebula, makes sense, but clouds? that's.. not how *clouds* work, aughh...

Did I dream up this vrchat world or not? A world that was just a vast ocean, but there was some seaweed path you could follow that would lead into a hole into the ocean. Filled with weird sorts of creatures in it. There was a large whale like creature patrolling the ocean I think?

I think there was an alien sky whale in it, and going into the ocean, you could find a volcano god. Or maybe that was a different world. I can't remember it's been long time since I dived in.

Its kinda wild how often you see ai used for vrchat worlds. For a medium entirely built on creativity/art i dont get how you make a whole world/area by hand then go "computer, generate me some wall art" or "computer, make me a world thumbnail" Its not that hard man just take a photo or use google

It really made new and noteworthy not enjoyable there for a bit cause my general read on people using it for thumbnails is the world isn't gonna be anything close to what is shown in the image/entirely different in general. Also for stuff in-world. Pinterest/Stock photo websites are still around!

-other people (ofc when the world is unused it gets unloaded and then loaded on demand) and the worlds can link between each other with portals. the catch is that unlike vrchat there can only ever be one shared instance of a place. everything is completely free and people/creativity focused

fwiw, you can have unlisted/private worlds. but like; you can only have *one* instance of a world ever. you would not duplicate your website 100x would you (i know someone will come in and say they host their site on like 5 servers and then route it thru anycast or smth)
