Paul Pelosi faces hit-and-run charge in Napa County

newsJul 4, 202639102

Paul Pelosi, 86, is under investigation after deputies say he struck a legally parked car in Yountville, Napa County, briefly stopped and then drove away. A witness called 911; sheriff’s deputies found Pelosi about one quarter mile away with heavy front-end damage to his brown convertible. No one was injured and authorities said Pelosi had no alcohol in his system. The Napa County Sheriff’s Department is recommending a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the scene of an accident and referred him to the California Department of Motor Vehicles to begin a fitness-to-drive review that officials called common for elderly drivers. Pelosi was not arrested at the scene. In 2022 Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI in Napa County and was sentenced to five days in jail, three years of probation, a three-month drinking driver class, installation of an ignition interlock device, about $5,000 in victim restitution, and nearly $2,000 in fines.
